Langfjell

After a month in Poland, I wanted to go back to the Norwegian mountains. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the first weekend was not optimistic. I changed my plans regarding location few times because of the weather and finally set up the trip to Treungen. Last summer, I visited this small settlement twice. First during my hike to Skuggenatten, and shortly after when I was going to Hægefjell. There are, however, many more interesting hills near Treungen and Lake Nisser, and right now I decided to take a look at one of them. Langfjell is located next to the already mentioned Skuggenatten. It rises to a height of 686m above sea level. and from the top there is a similar view over Lake Nisser. However, unlike its southern neighbor, after reaching the summit, it is possible to walk along the edge of the ridge to the next peak, Varden (756m above sea level). It was going to be an interesting trip, especially since the weather forecast in this area were not that pessimistic. It was supposed to be cloudy, but not foggy and cold.

It took me about 4 hours to get there. I found a small parking lot where I had left my car and start hiking. It was cloudy as announced, but the path was dry. I was walking through the forest for a while, but then I came out onto the plateau. The views weren’t particularly stunning until the trail led me over the edge of the rock face that sloped down vertically. The view of the lake and the shoreline was impressive, despite the gray, clouds hanging in the sky and the lack of vivid colors. The path continued along the cliff. It was not a demanding route, but the further I went, the more tired and discouraged I became. I was wondering if it was a lack of condition after a month spent in Poland, a weaker day or simply the influence of the weather. I decided that after reaching the top of Varden I would not go back the same route but go down the other side to the small settlement of Naurak and from there along the lake shore road I would go back to the car. This route was definitely longer, but that way I could avoid going through the same way again. I took some obligatory photos on the summit of Varden and then headed down for the path towards Naurak. I got to the road and headed south towards Treungen. After some time I got to the parking lot, which in the meantime had already been filled with other cars. It was the end of my hike for me. All that was left was to spend a few hours in the car and get back home.
