Haraldseidvatnet & Alnedalsvatnet
It was a week after my trip to Kongevegen, and I was eager to go out somewhere. The weather wasn’t ideal. It was raining all the week and the forecast warned about hurricane Brian, which already devastated UK. There were no conditions for climbing the summits, so I found out the trail on flat ground around the lake Haraldseidvatnet. Small village Haraldseid lies dozen kilometers from my house.
It wasn’t rain when I came out and drove to Haraldseid. I hoped that it will hold like this until I back. I found the place to park my car very close to the beginning of trail. The path led on wet, swampy peat bog. I knew that I can count on this kind of trip before I went out the house and it wasn’t be any surprise for me. I get to the Haraldseidvatnet lake and then path led me along the shore. Trail wasn’t so long but it was connected with another which led to other lake, Alnedalsvatnet. I decided to extend my trip. I climbed to muddy hill and still jumping over the puddles I reached gravel road. There were many animal excrements and soon, I found the guilty ones. The flock of sheep stared at me when I passed by.
Soon, I left the Alnedalsvatnet behind me. I walked among farms and houses on asphalt road. And finally, strong wind with rain catched me. I thought that it could be nice to go back home now, but I realized that my car is about 5 kilometers away. Warm and dry slippers had to wait a bit more.
I found the trail, which led me out on pasture area. Then I found another, that goes to Haraldseid village. It was better to go there than walk again around the lakes on swampy ground. But to get to any dry road, I had to walked through the terrain which looks like wet sponge. Finally, after another two pastures and pine forest, I get to Haraldseid. Very soon, I found the right road and after a while I could drive home.
This trail is not difficult, but it requires to wear some high rubber shoes. Or hike during long drought, but this one is not appearing in Norway so often.
