Family trip on Gjerdesdalsvatnet-Friarane-Hovda route
Summer this year is extremely wayward. Sunny days are so few that it is difficult to enjoy the sunny weather and I ca only dream about any mountain trip. Every sun ray piercing through the clouds deserves special attention, and a few hours of rain-free weather is a good idea to do some home-work or short walks.
One of these temporary breaks in the delivery of another batch of rain we decided to use for a family trip. We packed into the car and went out for one of the most frequently described routes on this blog – the trail to Friarane and Hovda. Our three small trolls got somehow pushed into the rear seats of the car, which was quite surprising, given the fact that our car is not so big. Before we got to the parking lot by the trail, we had to face a herd of cows on the road. Luckily, they allowed us to go further and a while later we were ready to walk.
The youngest troll was taken by my wife. She took him in baby carrier. I providently packed the larger carrier, as our average troll doesn’t like to go for trips. The oldest Tymek was forced to use his own legs (and often his parents had to strive to keep up with him). On the way up the mountain we encountered several more cows and rams. We had to watch out for traps the animals left on the road.
We reached the point where the forest starts, and few minutes we decided to make some photos of our troll family. I got rid of the weight from my back to make it easier to operate the camera. Michas reluctantly but obediently continued the march, supported by parents and older brother. The youngest one slept at the beginning of the hike.
Soon, Tymek began to insist on putting him into a baby carrier or at least lift him by hands. We decided to retreat. We walked one kilometer one way, maybe. Michael back again at daddy back and we started to descent. It turned out that we went back in time. The first raindrops fall down when we were on the road home.
