Mountains

Steinslandsnuten

This was a spontaneous trip. There was no weather to plan any spectacular trekking journey. In fact, I had to let my knees rest after my last trips. I decided to use a few hours of sun and climb on one of easiest mountain in the neighborhood, Steinslandsnuten (I was there before, and you can read about this here, but it is only in polish). When I walked through the Audral valley, I met herd of goats. They stood on the road in front of me and they hadn’t a possibility to escape. In this case I could get closer and went among them. They were a bit scared at the beginning, but after the while they looked at me more curious. I get to the gate and crossed it. The goats left behind me.

I reached place called Fjellgardsbakken, where very often we came with the children and walked in into the forest. The road led me to the firs crossroad. Trail on right directed to Sletthaug, Åksla and Vardafjell. I kept the direction to Sandeid. After this point, the road became more grassy and wet. And when I came to another crossroad with the path to Steinstalnsnuten it became even more wetter. It became to rain. I had to use my rain jacket, but I didn’t retreat. Few minutes I left the forest the weather get better and the sun appeared again. Soon, I was on place.

The mountain is not the highest in the area, but you can see beautiful scenery from here. I attached some photos as a proof. After a while at the summit, I went back.

During the return, another rain caught me exactly in the same place as before.  But also this time it rained quite short. I didn’t meet any goats this time and soon, I reached my car. The whole route has less than 11 kilometers in both ways. I made it in 3,5 hour.
