Blefjell
Blefjell is a mountain range, located about 2 hours drive from Oslo. It is very popular place, especially for those who live in capital of Norway. This time I was going to check one of the most popular trails in this range, the route to Sigridsbu cabin. I showed up on the Nordstul parking early in the Sunday’s morning. The road to Nordstul is paid (70 kr in 2021). There weren’t so many cars at the parking but it was about 6.20 in the morning already. I supposed that more people will come here later during the day. The path is very well marked by red T. And the first…

Bjørnåsen
I’ve been on that hill some time ago. Now, during the winter there is not so many other options for mountain walking and that’s why I decided to refresh this route. Bjørnåsen means in norwegian Bear Hill. This mountain is only 138,5 meters high, and it is located on Jeløya island just behind city of Moss in southern Norway. To get there you need to cross the bridge in the city center and follow the road 1060 to the north. After passing town buildings, the road leads through the forest, farms and norwegian cabins. The sign with the name of the peak is right by the road and can be…

Nøtnesåsen
Nøtnesåsen is a 200-meter peak (exactly 198 meters above sea level). It is located in the southeast of the country, right at the intersection of roads 32 and 35, near the town of Sundbyfoss, near the E18 highway. Honestly, I didn’t plan to climb this hill. That day I had a different goal, but I was surprised by the protective conditions on the western side of the Oslofjord. In my area it was almost spring, and snow lay only sporadically. After crossing the ferry to the other side of the fjord, I found winter in full swing. The route I took was under a thick substance access to weapons of…

Dyvikheia
I was on my way back from Treungen where I was trying to climb one of the surrounding peaks, Skuggenatten. It turned out that the whole trip and the kilometers I made would be wasted. The icy ground on the rocky trail forced me to retreat. I’ve got an idea to stop somewhere and look around for some alternative tour. I managed to see a characteristic sign from the road, which indicated a route. I found a place to park the car and after a while I was ready to go. Dyvikheia is a small peak (340 m above sea level) located at the intersection of roads 38 and 3374…

Skuggenatten
Skuggenatten (706 m asl) is located near town of Treungen, in Nissedal area, on south of Norway. It supposed to be sunny day, but when I got on the right place, I found ice on the road and snow in the mountains. Despite these conditions I decide to try go on. The trail began on the opposite of Best gas station and it leads on the rocks. I found more ice on the route and finally after I made approx. half kilometer I had to give up. Before I returned to the car, it was start raining, which only confirmed my belief that my decision was right. Another time, my…

Gygrestolen
It was one of those rainy weekends when even Norwegians stay inside. But for me, deprived of mountain activity for almost a month, it was no option to stay home for another weekend. I had to get out somewhere. Even if the whole sky was falling over my head, I needed some outdoor activity. I found an interesting spot on the internet, as shown in the photo above. These interesting rocks are located in the Midt-Telemark area, near the town of Bø. The place is called Gygrestolfjellet (or Gygrestolen) and is a popular destination for climbers. There is a 7-kilometer trail for ordinary hikers like me that starts and ends…

Høgevard
Norefjell is one of the closest mountain spots if you are from Oslo area. From the capital of Norway, you can get there in less than three hours. Of course, as long as we avoid traffic jams. I was there at 08.30 on a Sunday morning, so I hardly experienced any traffic on the roads. I arrived at Noresund, a small town at the foot of the mountains, situated on both sides of Lake Krøderen, at its narrowest point. I crossed the bridge that connects the two parts of the town and found the road to the Norefjell Mountains. There is a ski center here, a lot of private cabins…

Vardenutane
This was my next trip along the road that crosses the Haukeli Mountains. I planned it in the same way as before. In way that I could have a break for a few hours to go hiking in the mountains. As before, I found a route that was not very demanding and was relatively close to the main road. Two peaks I was going to hike, were also not particularly ambitious, but the proximity of other summits and the location of the lake in the neighborhood, guaranteed quite good views during the hike. Again, I left home early in the morning in order not to waste any time, and I…

Romtveitnuten & Reinsgravnuten
Accessing Store Nup in recent days has been associated with the journey on the E134 road, which runs through the Haukeli Mountains. A few-hour break and a break to the mountains turned out to be only an addition, not the purpose of that trip. As you can see quite a successful addition. And as my next trip along this route was approaching, I figured it would be fun to repeat the story, but this time with a different hill, preferably less demanding. I grabbed the map and soon had another target defined. It was called Reinsgravnuten (1109m above sea level) and was located only a dozen kilometers north of Edland,…

Hellandsnuten
The Hellandsnuten mountain (747m above sea level) is located next to the town of Sand in the Suldal region. A decent marked trail is about 3.5 km long but the route to the top is classified as demanding or very demanding. Having a free day, I decided to check what could I see from the summit, and while already there, I would additionally walk to the neighboring peak, Månastølsnuten (806m above sea level).I left home early in the morning. It was still dark outside, but when I ended in a small parking lot near the Joagarden kindergarten in Eide (housing estate in Sand), it was already light and I could…
