It’s been over one month since I came back to Norway and I still haven’t been at any mountain trip. I don’t count Bjørnåsen, which has only 138 meters above sea level. I needed something more. Norway is mainly known as a mountainous country but it has also lowland landscapes. Unfortunately I ended up in one of them, called Østfold, close to south border with Sweden. After a few months break, I returned to Norway. New job, new place, new opportunities, you might say. This time I found myself near Moss, in the south of the country, in a place that is probably the flattest area in Norway. Reset one more time
In the previous post I wrote about my trip to mountain of Reset and how I lost my passport. Three days after (and the next day after I wandered to Blomstølen, making 30 km) I decided to go on a rescue action. Fortunately weather came with sun and I was going to find my loss and finally climb on Reset with other, neighboring peaks: Høgafjellet and Bårnuten. Reset means plan B
I had a plans for my next trip to Norway. I wanted to go out to the mountains at least two, maybe three times, take a tent and sleeping bag and spend a night somewhere outside. I prepared several maps with interesting tracks and full of optimism I went to country of fjords. Unfortunately, the weather ruined my plans. My plans for this visit were completely different. I supposed to spend whole week in Norway this time and I wanted to go in other places. As always, I had to modify the plans. My life in Norway unfortunately ended, but still I have some issues that keep me there. And this give me a reason to visit land of trolls time to time. Bondhusvatnet
If you want to see glacier, you don’t need to climb on highest mountain. It is very easy if you are in western Norway, close to Odda, where Folgefonna glacier lies. There is a short, easy and very beautiful trail from Sunndal to Bondhusvatnet Lake. Hovåsen
It supposed to be windy, rainy and snowy Sunday. Waiting for weather apocalypse, I stayed at home. But end of the world didn’t come. It was even quite nice outside. Kåtanuten 531 m asl
Kåtanuten was the first mountain I climbed when I came to Norway. It was a long time ago. I haven’t been there in the last years and this was a good reason for refresh that trail. It is placed in Ølensvåg, on the northern shore of Ølsjoen fjord, and the path beginning just opposite the shipyard. There are three parts of this trail: Extremely hard climbing in the woods.
