Hålandshovda
Hålandshovda Peak has never been high on my list of priority places to visit. A bit strange, considering that the views from this mountain are really impressive. Well, so far I did not know that it is such a cool mountain. Hålandshovda is another peak on the E134 road, some 13 km east of the town of Etne in western Norway. The area around is extraordinary lovely. From the top you can admire Lake Stordalsvatnet to the south and the steep slopes of the mountains called Etnefjellet (or Etnefjellene). The Åkrafjorden stretches to the north and there are the nice mountains on the opposite shore. In good weather, you can…

Børkjenesnuten, Gaddanuten & Håfjell
Børkjenesnuten and the two neighboring mountains lying on the shores of Etnefjord have fascinated me for a long time. The list of peaks I wanted to set foot on without these three would be incomplete. The last trip to Kjellesviknuen, which had a direct view of Børkjenesnuten, further fueled the desire to head towards Etne next time. The only problem was finding the right trail that would take me to all three peaks. There is no such trail on the ut.no website. I only found a description of the route to the first one, Børkjenesnuten, leading from a small village called Aksdal. However, while searching the Internet, I found a…

Etne – Skånevik postvegen
Due to my plans on Christmas in Poland, and fact, that there were only few days left to my flight, I wanted to go out somewhere, probably the last time before new year. I decided to go on old postal road between Etne and Skånevik, two small towns placed just 8 kilometers from each other. Those 8 kilometers was the distance of the postal road (postvegen), which leads across the mountains. The road was opened in 1785 and until 1866 was important part of communication link between Bergen and Stavanger (called as The Stavanger Highway). Today, the postal road is used only by tourists and local inhabitants for recreation. The…

Soleimsgrønnuten, Smørnut & Hollestadnuten
The Sunny weather ended just the same day, when I planned to go on another trip. I wished to come back to Etne and Litedalen and try to get to mountains I missed last week. Clouds on the sky and pouring rain were not able to stop me. I was on the place on Saturday morning. I parked beside the road follows to the Hårlansvatnet lake, where starts another road leading to the mountains. As I could see on the map and what I could see from the opposite slope week earlier, this road came out on top with electricity lines just between the peaks of Soleimsgrønnuten and Smørnut. My…

Hike from Litedalen
I planned this trip whole week. I studied maps and watched forecast almost every day. And then during the trip my legs leaded me to completely another place. But back to beginning. When the week started, I tried to decide where to go on next weekend. My choice was Etne. This town is surrounded by few magnificent mountain ranges. I found three peaks, which seems to be not difficult. In addition, I asked my friend who lives in Etne how to get there and I’ve got answer that the trail to top of Hollestadnuten starts on Berge farm. I founded Berge road on the map and trail which leads to…
