Ranastøngji (Ranastongi) 1900 m asl
The night spent in the tent was not the most pleasant one. It was because of cold and I decided it was time to look for a new, warmer sleeping bag. I got up at 05.00 and spent about an hour getting ready to go. I packed the tent, brushed my teeth, took a few photos on the nearby rocks, prepared the equipment for the trail. It was chilly, but I hoped the walk will warm me up. I already begun my hike when it was starting to rain. I managed to get my jacket out of my backpack and put it on, but after a few or a dozen…

Eldrevatnet, Vesle Juklevatnet & Juklevatnet
It was supposed to be another autumn trip but I ended up walking in winter scenery. In the south of Norway, you still don’t think about winter. It’s only the beginning of November, after all. Some still run on summer tires. Two weeks earlier, there had also been no sign of snow in the mountains near Rjukan. So why should it be any different now? I packed the tent and sleeping bag into the car thinking that I would not be back until the next…

Syningen 1047 m asl

This hill is located at the end of the Hemsedal Valley, close to the city of Gol. According to the description of the trail on the Ut.no website, it takes about an hour to get to Syningn, so I assumed a short and easy walk and then returned home for several hours. After a frosty march on Hydalshjallen, I entered the Hemsedal center store for some fresh lunch and equipped with Norwegian sweet buns, I headed towards the next…

Hydalshjallen
For the next mountain trip, I decided to go to the Hemsedal valley. Some time ago, when I was crossing that way, it made a huge impression on me. So, I wanted to taste some hiking in the mountains there. This was a perfect time for that before winter. For a long time I was looking for a trail that would not be as drastic for my knees as my last trip. Unfortunately, most routes around the town of Hemsedal (yes, the main town in the area has the same name as the valley) is intended for serious walkers with steel knees. However, after persistent searching, I found something that…
