Road trip
Norway is not just an opportunity for mountain hikes. My problems with the achilles forced me to avoid hiking trails, but at the same time it opened a quite different possibilities. I decided to go with the car around the Viking country and see places that have been on my list to visit from some time.
During the two-day trip, the weather (despite the favorable forecasts) was mainly raining. However, there were better moments, so the photos are not so tragically.
Due to the large number of pics I would like to boast, I decided that all the additional attractions that I encountered on the way would be included in subsequent entries. Today I only include a general description of the route.
My road led through Odda, Jondal, ferry crossing to the north shore of Hardangerfjord and along the coast to Granvin. I visited Ulvik, drove through Voss, Stalheim and reached Flåm. From there, route 243, also known as snøvegen (snow road), I reached Læerdal and round the way back home, including Eidfjord and Odda. The expedition ended with a stop at the Langfoss waterfall.

When you turn from the main road E16 and heading to Stalheim Hotel, you can get a unique opportunity to take a look at the incredible Stalheim valley. After the hotel the road lead by narrow, winding and steep road down. The slope of the route is between 18 and 25% and traffic is allowed only from top. From the small stop just before the first turns, the short path goes over the cliff, where you can admire the magnificent Stalheimfossen waterfall.

From the small town of Aurland leads a steep and narrow road 243, rising up to 1309m above sea level, and leading through the mountains to Lærdal, 46 km away. This scenic route was called Snow Road (Snøvegen), because even in the middle of summer there is plenty of snow beside the road. The road to Lærdal can be much faster, using one of the longest tunnels in the world (24.5 km), Lærdalstunnelen. However, when choosing Route 243, you can stop at very characteristic lookout point: Stegastein, hanging over the cliff platform with a glass railing at the end.
