Mountains

Skomakernibba

It’s been about a month since I made last trip to the mountains, so I felt it was time to go somewhere. This time I was not supposed to be alone, because my friends suggested that we need to go on a trip together. They were not very skilled in mountain hiking, so we had to choose such a route that they could manage and also I would not be bored going up the same hill again. Our choice became the top of Skomakernibba, a small hill just outside the village of Vikedal. The hill appears periodically in the tourist guides distributed around the Vindafjord Kommune, due to the magnificent panorama that can be viewed from the top. The route itself is less than 2 kilometers long and the peak is located at 367 m above sea level.

So far I have not had the opportunity to climb this hill so I was happy with the upcoming new experience. The parking lot is located at the Ørnes farm just off the Movegen road, a few kilometers outside the center of Vikedal. The route is not difficult, but quite muddy, and on the way you can come across numerous surprises left by cows grazing nearby.
At the top we found a picnic bench and a beautiful view of the town and Sandeidfjord. After the obligatory photo session and rest, we headed back.
