• Sætrafjellet 472 m asl

It just so happened that this year, whenever I’m on the west coast, I usually organize a short trip to the mountains in the neighborhood of Vikebygd or Bjoa. Probably pure coincidence, but maybe because those mountains have not yet been quite familiar to me. I visited these areas again in June and although I had only one day to use, I managed to organize a few-hour trip to Sætrafjellet, near town of Vikebygd. And in addition this time I wasn’t walking alone. I was accompanied by Maniek, nick name of Łukasz, who you may know from trip to Kjellesviknuten. We went to Sætrafjellet on Saturday evening. We left the…

  • Såta 250 m asl & Juten 411m asl

I visited western coast of Norway, where I supposed to stay for few days. This came with opportunity to hike on some mountains in neighbour. During my last, spontaneous trip on Kyrkja, I managed to look around for some other nice trails in that area. Just behind town of Vikebygd starts the trail which leads to 4 peaks and ends almost in town centre. That one looks very interesting, especially the first two summits weren’t too high and I could expect that there will be no snow. I had no time to go further and climb for another two peaks. All I have for this trip was around 3 hours…

  • Trodlafjellet 637m asl & Skredfjellet 627m asl

I thought about returning to Vikebygd and climbing Trodlafjellet again from the day I reached the summit for the first time. Of course, with big breaks, because it’s been about five years since then. What was on my mind was the ascent of Trodlafjellet and the neighboring Trollanippa peak, which is lying on the opposite edge of the horseshoe-looking mountain range. Wait a minute. After all, no Trollanippa is in the title, someone might ask. So I’m in a hurry with explanation. Well, it is because I simply did not climb this summit. Instead, I did the other one instead, which I will talk about next. After a few previous, short…

  • Våbrekka 582 m asl

In the middle of December, I went for a weekend trip on western coast of Norway. Except other things I had to do, I wishes to arrange some hiking as well. Saturday was supposed to be windy but fortunately it shouldn’t be rainy. The perfect weather for short mountain trip.I found a quite interesting hill on the map near the town of Vikebygd. Its name was Våbrekka and it has 582 m a.s.l. Nearby was the mountain on which I was once, Trollafjellet. It would be nice to climb on it too, and the neighboring Trollanipa as well, but climbing to both peaks is a bit more challenging. I reached…
