Sætrafjellet 472 m asl - Fjords And Mountains

It just so happened that this year, whenever I’m on the west coast, I usually organize a short trip to the mountains in the neighborhood of Vikebygd or Bjoa. Probably pure coincidence, but maybe because those mountains have not yet been quite familiar to me. I visited these areas again in June and although I had only one day to use, I managed to organize a few-hour trip to Sætrafjellet, near town of Vikebygd. And in addition this time I wasn’t walking alone. I was accompanied by Maniek, nick name of Łukasz, who you may know from trip to Kjellesviknuten.

We went to Sætrafjellet on Saturday evening. We left the car in the parking lot at the church in Vikebygd and started our journey along the well-known route leading to Vikastølen. After less than a one kilometer, we turned off the main road and followed the signpost to the south. The path ran through the pasture and then through the forest, ascending successively. On this route, you have to watch out for ticks, because in the following days I found some of these little creatures on my body.

In the company, the road is not that long and soon we went out into the open space, and shortly after that we checked in at the top. The sun was tending to the sunset, which made the light for photos almost perfect. In addition, the views of Ålfjorden or Grautatnet, which I had the opportunity to see a few months earlier, meant that we were in no hurry to return. We got to the car after sunset, just before midnight. Fortunately, it was still bright enough to find your way safely.
